Back to Petersburg

Wed. 7/31

Today Tracy and I were up before they started hauling pots, so we had a little chat over coffee and tea and took a look once again at the beauty that was all around us.  I can't help but reiterating over and over ;) this fact.

It took around 2 1/2 hours to finish hauling up the last of the crab pots, which afforded me time for a little nap, after all, being a spectator is very tiring. Then we headed off to pick up the shrimp pots before we finally headed for Petersburg.  I couldn't believe how far down the pots were, so much so, I thought Teara's arms were going to fall off with her coiling of all the rope.  She showed a lot more endurance than I could have demonstrated .

Along the way we didn't encounter the playfull porpoises as we had expected, but we saw the whales again.  It was quite a show, at one point Clifford ran onto the foredeck shouting to Tracy who was on the observation deck "Did you see it, did you catch it? A whale breached". Sadly, Tracy had to admit she hadn't.  Tracy and I spent the next two hours on that deck scanning our left and right hoping to catch a breaching whale, but to no avail.  There will be a next time.

We had another fabulous dinner, with another fantastic wine, the only divergence from the norm is I took the time to toast Clifford and Teara for their hospitality and their tolerance of us.
